The UNFPA Ghana Country Representative, Niyi Ojuolape has disclosed that the ‘One-stop-shop is the topmost priority of the recently launched Coalition of Persons against Sexual & Gender-Based Violence and Harmful Practices (CoPASH). He made the disclosure this afternoon on GBC Uniiq FM’s ‘Woman 2 Woman’ show hosted by Juliet Kwakye.

Assisting him to explain matters related to Sexual & Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) on the show, was the Head of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Supt. Owusuwaa Kyeremeh. According to her, ‘The idea behind the one-stop center is to have all the service providers [in the SGBV value-chain] under one roof to enhance service delivery to victims of domestic violence.’ She added that, the services included security, legal, medical and psychological/counselling services among others.

Mr Niyi Ojuolape also mentioned that, so far, over a hundred (100) individuals and groups have registered to be members of the CoPASH. He charged them to make use of the opportunity it provides ‘to work in a synergistic way’ to ensure stronger efforts in advocacy towards ending SGBV and harmful practices in all forms across the country.

The Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia in collaboration with UNFPA Ghana launched CoPASH recently at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra. The ceremony brought together policymakers, the diplomatic community in Ghana, civil society groups as well as members of the general public.
