The current United Nations reforms calls for stronger collaboration and coordinated efforts by various agencies of the UN towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. For this reason, country offices of various UN agencies all over the world are enjoined to be ‘delivering as one’ for societal transformation.

Following the visit of the UNFPA Executive Director, Dr. Natalia Kanem to Ghana attend the 3rd China-Africa Conference on Population & Development as well as the tripartite celebrations of UNFPA @ 50, ICPD25 and the 95th birthday of the renowned Reproductive Health Champion, Professor Fred Sai, she also met with the UN Country Team in Ghana.

The meeting took the format of an open conversation, in which she asked members of the UNCT about the nature of their programming within the country and achievements they were making. She in turn answered questions from the UNCT relating to the conduct of business at the higher administrative levels of the UN.

The Executive Director also used the opportunity to explain to the UNCT, points related to the 2019 State of the World Population report of the ‘Unfinished Business’ that existed as far as ‘ensuring reproductive rights and choices for all’ are concerned. She also encouraged the UNCT to provide support hardworking colleagues in order to for them to occupy strategic positions that could prove beneficial to efforts at integrated programming.
