Dignity kits are a critical component of the UNFPA humanitarian response. They help women and girls maintain proper hygiene after being displaced or affected adversely by a natural or man-made disaster.

Following the incident, the UNFPA Ghana Country Office visited Adidome to donate dignity kits to affected victims of the recent flood disaster caused by the spillage of water from the Akosombo Dam.

According to the Deputy Director of Health Services in the Volta Region, Dr. Senanu Kwesi Dzokoto, at least 12,000 people were displaced following the spillage of the Akosombo dam.

Residents of communities in the North Tongu, South Tongu and Asuogyaman districts in the Volta and Eastern regions of Ghana were badly affected by the disaster. The following are some sights from the humanitarian response.
