This factsheet provides information on child marriage in Ghana. On average, one out of four girls will be married before their 18th birthday. Child marriage is a human rights abuse, and constitutes a grave threat to young girls' lives, health and future prospects. The practice can also lead to complications related to pregnancy and childbirth, and it exposes girls to sexually transmitted infections.
