The global celebration of the International Day of the Midwife is on 5 May. In Ghana, it will be commemorated on 8 May with the theme “Midwives changing the world one family at a time."
Skilled midwives, with the equipment and support they need, can spell the difference between life and death for close to 300,000 women each year. On the International Day of the Midwife, UNFPA Ghana reiterates its commitment to strengthen quality midwifery, improve maternal health, and reposition family planning which will promote healthier families, communities and nation.
