Description: This is the 5th in the series of commemorations of the International Day to End Obstetric Fistula to reflect on progress made, raise awareness, and generate increased policy and community actions for ending fistula. The 2017 commemoration is under the theme ““Hope, healing and dignity for all”

Obstetric fistula is one of the most serious and tragic injuries that can occur during childbirth. The condition typically leaves women incontinent, as well as subject to infections or other health conditions. Women with fistula are often shunned by their communities. Yet the condition is almost entirely preventable.

The opportunity will also be used to launch a costed national strategic plan to inform effective programming in the prevention and management of the condition in Ghana.
The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection Hon. Otiko Afisah Djaba is the guest.
