Location: Accra International Conference Centre

In keeping with UNFPA’s focus on adolescent well-being, the 2014 International Youth Day is equally dedicated to the youth with the theme “Investing in Young People: The Key to Ghana’s Transformation and Economic Development”. The local theme is anticipated to draw national focus on managing the conflicting environment of the adolescent and young person bordering on: (a) Health, including Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (ASRH), prevention of HIV, and related matters such as drug use and substance abuse, among others (b) Entrepreneurial Development, (c) Education and (d) Leadership.

UNFPA Ghana, in collaboration with the UN System, National Youth Authority and Ghana AIDS Commission, will celebrate the day at Accra International Conference Centre. The campaign to gather millions of “selfies” from Presidents, young people, decision-makers, high profile celebrities and others, in support of a youth goal to be included in the post 2015 development agenda will be amplified on the day.

HE John Dramani Mahama the President of the Republic of Ghana is the Guest of Honour and scheduled to interact with the over 5000 young people.
