Sexual and reproductive health:UNFPA Ghana prioritizes universal access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health services, grounded in the principles of reproductive rights. This commitment is operationalized through initiatives aimed at reducing preventable maternal mortality and ensuring individuals possess the knowledge and means to make informed choices about their sexual and reproductive well-being.

HIV & AIDS: Efforts to combat HIV & AIDS in Ghana, with a specific focus on youth and women, encompass public awareness campaigns, educational programs designed to promote safer practices, and enhanced access to voluntary testing and treatment services. The integration of HIV prevention strategies within broader sexual and reproductive health care delivery systems is crucial for minimizing new infections and mitigating associated social stigma.

Prevention and Treatment of Obstetric Fistula:The prevention and treatment of obstetric fistula, a debilitating injury arising from obstructed labour, remains a significant focus. UNFPA Ghana supports the provision of no-cost, high-quality medical care, including surgical repair, and comprehensive rehabilitation services for affected women. Concurrently, community-level interventions and enhancements to maternal health services are implemented to address the underlying causes and prevent the occurrence of fistula.

Midwifery: Recognizing the critical role of skilled birth attendants, UNFPA Ghana invests in the education and professional development of midwives. This includes strengthening midwifery curricula, providing ongoing training opportunities, and advocating for the professional autonomy and regulation of midwifery practice. Such investments are essential for expanding the qualified midwifery workforce to meet the health needs of the population throughout the continuum of care during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period.

Family Planning: The organization facilitates access to modern contraceptives and family planning information, empowering women and couples to determine freely and responsibly the number and spacing of their children. These programmes extend to thousands of women of reproductive age annually, contributing to improved family and community health outcomes.
