Ecobank Ghana has donated learning equipment which included seven (7) refurbished laptops and a projector, to the Youth Leaders Fellowship Programme of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Ghana. In a ceremony held at the Ecobank Headquarters in Accra to mark the handing over of the equipment, the Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana Mr. Daniel Sackey highlighted Ecobank Ghana’s commitment to improving the lives of young people by giving them the requisite skills and tools to be change agents in the world.
In his address to the gathering, he mentioned that Ecobank Ghana makes massive investment of resources into training, especially in building the capacity of young people in the field of education, health and financial inclusion; which are key elements of the Sustainable Development Goals. In handing over the laptops and projector piece to the UNFPA Country Representative, Mr. Niyi Ojuolape, Mr. Sackey encouraged the efficient use of technology by young people for social development. Mr. Ojuolape in turn expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Ecobank team and acknowledged their efforts in establishing this partnership with UNFPA, whose mandate of empowering young people to realise their full potential is closely aligned with Ecobank Ghana’s ideals as a corporate entity. He remarked that more than a mere donation, this contribution is an investment into the lives of young people who make up 70% of Ghana’s population; the results of which will contribute in no small way to changing the world.
The event ended with both parties committing to continue in their partnership in empowering the young people of Ghana.
