UNFPA Ghana Strengthens Partnership with DOVVSU to Combat Gender-Based Violence

UNFPA Ghana recently joined the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service to commission laboratory services for survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) at the DOVVSU One-Stop Centre in Accra, Ghana.

The event further deepened the collaboration between UNFPA and DOVVSU. Great appreciation is extended to the Ghana Police Service and the leadership of the Director of DOVVSU, Assistant Commissioner of Police Owusuwaa Kyeremeh.

Dr David Wilfred Ochan, UNFPA Ghana Country Representative, noted that the establishment of the laboratory services, jointly supported by UNFPA and other partners, demonstrates the transformative power of partnership and collaboration in driving meaningful change.

The laboratory services demonstrate the transformative power of partnership and collaboration in driving meaningful change. The initiative also serves as a call to all stakeholders to unite in combating GBV and foster a culture of equality and respect.

At UNFPA, we remain committed to building a world where there is zero GBV, and where every survivor of GBV receives the support they need to heal and thrive.

Together with our partners, we are creating lasting change. This support, along with plans to expand psychotherapy services and strengthen GBV information management systems at the One-Stop Centre, aims to ensure that survivors of GBV continue to receive the care needed to heal and rebuild their lives, informed by evidence-based policy and planning decisions.
