The report outlines the MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF) and action plan in Ghana for maternal health. According to recent data, the progress in reducing the maternal mortality by 2015 is off track. The slow progress in reaching the target has been of great concern to policymakers to the extent that it was declared a national emergency in 2008. MAF targets to redouble efforts to overcome barriers in implementing interventions to reduce maternal mortality in Ghana, including improving family planning, skilled delivery, and emergency obstetric and newborn care.
