APPLY FOR THE ICPD YOUTH DIALOGUE IN BENIN | 4-5 APRIL 2024

Are you passionate about shaping the future of global development and advocating for the rights of young people worldwide? On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), UNFPA would like to invite you to apply to attend the ICPD30 Global Youth Dialogue in Cotonou, Benin, on April 4-5.

Our world is undergoing demographic transition, globalization, an increase in conflicts, and a climate crisis. Many young people grapple with obstacles such as poverty and marginalization, limiting their access to essential information and services.

Young people are a crucial constituency and a key demographic of the ICPD Programme of Action (PoA). This constituency is poised to grow exponentially over the next few decades. The continued relevance of the ICPD PoA relies on young people’s ownership of its agenda. The Global Youth Dialogue is designed to celebrate young people as partners in development, custodians of the ICPD PoA, and changemakers. It will be a moment to hear young people’s concerns, celebrate their projects, and ensure the ICPD is relevant for the coming decades.

Criteria for Participation:

• Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 35.
• Demonstrated involvement in community or civic initiatives related to SRHR, Gender/GBV, Migration, Youth Peace and Security, Climate Action, Economic empowerment, and innovation, among other areas.
• Applicants should represent a legitimate youth organization operating at local, national, regional, or global levels.
• Representing organizations with the capacity and interest to steer or support the implementation of the ICPD.
• We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including different cultures, ethnicities, socio-economic statuses, and educational levels.
• Possess proficiency in one of the official languages of the event (English, French, Spanish and International Sign Language).

Join us in Benin for an enriching two-day event filled with vibrant discussions and thoughtful deliberations to propel forward the global agenda on youth rights and development. Apply here. The deadline to submit your applications is 09 February at 10:00 p.m. GMT.

Your voice matters in shaping the future we want! We look forward to receiving your applications and welcoming you to the ICPD30 Global Youth Dialogue.
